Meet the Doctors

Dr. Schneider, University Of Florida College Of Veterinary MedicineDr. Schneider attended the University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated with Honors. While at UF he was also a member of Phi Zeta. After graduation from UF he completed a Small Animal Rotating Medicine and Surgery Internship at the University of Georgia and then a Small Animal Surgery Residency also at the University of Georgia. Following his Surgery Residency he practiced in Hickory, NC, for two years before joining Charlotte Veterinary Surgery Hospital (CVSH) in 1999. He practiced with CVSH from 1999 until the practice closed in 2008. He then joined the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Matthews, NC, as a surgeon for its new surgical referral service and is the EVC Medical Director. He is married and is the proud father of two fine children. He also shares his home with four dogs, two cats, and two horses, but these numbers are likely to increase since who knows what abandoned pet will show up at the clinic this week.

Dr. Ellison, University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary MedicineOriginally from Wisconsin, Dr. Ellison graduated in 2004 from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, completed an Emergency and Critical Care Internship at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, WI, and has been working almost exclusively in emergency and critical care since. His professional interests include critical care and medicine with a special interest in pain control and fluid therapy. He is the "Dad" of three very energetic Siberian Huskies who love to take him on long walks.

Dr. Husky, Louisiana State University School of Veterinary MedicineDr. Husky was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. He has always had a love for animals, starting with his first pet, a German Shepherd named Samson. He developed an interest in medicine around the time he began college, largely due to the influence of his grandfather, who was a doctor. He attended University of California, Santa Cruz for his undergraduate studies, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating in 2003. He obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. His original plans to return to California were rapidly changed after visiting and loving the Charlotte, NC, area. After a short time in daytime practice, Dr. Husky joined the EVC staff as an overnight doctor. When not working at EVC, Dr. Husky is usually playing or watching sports, playing music, hanging out with friends or spending time with his dog, Dodger (a 4-year-old Labrador retriever).

Dr. Montgerard, North Carolina State University College of Veterinary MedicineDr. Montgerard is a 2006 Honors graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a native of Charlotte and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School before embarking on her college career. While at NCSU, Dr. Montgerard focused on exotic and zoo medicine. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Auburn University in 2007 and went on to pursue an internship in zoo medicine at the Tulsa Zoo in Oklahoma. After the Zoo Internship, she decided that small animal emergency and critical care was her passion and returned to Charlotte to pursue this profession. She has been employed at EVC since July 2008. Her primary interests are surgery and exotic animal medicine. She also volunteers her veterinary services at the Carolina Raptor Center on an as-needed basis. Dr. Montgerard and her husband, Hank, were high school sweethearts and have been married for a little over a year. They have 2 children from Hank's first marriage – Ariel, 9, and Spencer, 8 – and a little one on the way. Their other "kids" include 7 cats, 2 dogs (one also bearing the name Hank), a bird and a snake.

Dr. Tabony, Purdue UniversityDr. Tabony has served as a regular weekend relief veterinarian for the EVC since 2007. She is an Honors graduate from Purdue University who moved to Charlotte in 2003 with her husband, Hunter. After three years in daytime practice, they took a year off to fulfill their dream of international travel. Upon returning, Dr. Tabony started a relief business in the area, which allows her to pursue her interests in surgery, pain management, preventative medicine, and business. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Tabony enjoys outdoor activities, dance, travel, and spending time with her new son, Carter.
